It’s 2024 on an undisclosed tropical island, near enough to the Miami and Houston airports that plane ticket prices are reasonable. Isla de las Sombras, a relatively fancy and totally not haunted resort on the main beach, is hosting several large events at once:
- A convention for mystery writers
- A meet-up for paranormal investigators
- The filming location for a reality TV show featuring several celebrities
- A self-actualization yoga retreat
Some of these group leaders/showrunners know each other, and some have histories going back decades. Old debts, resentments, and grudges mix with new encounters, and what will begin as a pleasant evening in the waning light of a September evening will turn dark, quite dark indeed.
